Life beyond braces
Completing orthodontic treatment is an exciting milestone. Whether you’ve straightened your teeth with Invisalign or traditional fixed braces, the journey doesn’t end when your treatment does – it’s just the beginning of embracing your new smile and ensuring it stays that way.
At Splash Orthodontics, we’re here to guide you through life after braces, from perfecting your smile to protecting your results with retainers.
Your smile, elevated
Your fixed braces or aligners may be gone, but your smile journey continues. Now is the perfect time to celebrate your straighter teeth and perhaps explore options to enhance your smile even further.
Professional whitening
A whiter smile is a fantastic way to elevate your smile after braces. That’s why we offer complimentary teeth whitening to all our adult patients. Professional whitening can lift stains safely and achieve noticeable results for a fresh and radiant glow.
Teeth reshaping
Contouring and composite bonding are two popular techniques that can reshape your teeth to create a more harmonious smile. These quick and straightforward treatments can address minor imperfections like chips or uneven edges, leaving your teeth looking polished and perfectly aligned.
If you’re interested in combining braces with cosmetic treatments like composite bonding, porcelain veneers or implants, we can work closely with your dentist to provide a seamless experience.
Retainers
Once your orthodontic treatment is complete, retainers become your smile’s best friend. They’re essential for maintaining the position of your teeth and preventing them from shifting back to their original positions.
After fixed braces or Invisalign, your teeth can naturally move out of alignment – a process known as orthodontic relapse. Retainers hold your teeth in their new positions, and you’ll need to wear them indefinitely to keep your teeth aligned.
Types of retainers
At Splash Orthodontics, we provide two types of retainers to our private patients:
Fixed retainers: These are thin wires bonded discreetly behind your front teeth, providing a hassle-free solution that doesn’t require any extra effort to wear.
Removable retainers: Similar in design to Invisalign aligners, these clear retainers are easy to take out for cleaning, but they should be worn consistently for the best results.
For maximum peace of mind, we recommend wearing both types of retainers.
Post-treatment FAQs
Q: How long do I need to wear my removable retainers for?
A: Initially, you’ll need to wear them full-time before transitioning to nighttime wear indefinitely.
Q: Can I eat normally after my braces are removed?
A: Yes! However, avoid particularly hard or sticky foods for the first few days while your teeth adjust.
Q: What if I lose my retainer?
A: Contact us straight away, and we’ll arrange a replacement to keep your smile on track.
