Who’s eligible?

NHS funding is available to children and teens who need braces to improve their dental health. If you’re under 18, your dentist can refer you to us for a free assessment to see if you meet the criteria for NHS braces.

Below are some concerns that typically qualify for NHS braces.

Upper front teeth that protrude more than 6mm

Additional (supernumerary) teeth

Multiple missing teeth

Lower front teeth that protrude more than 3.5mm

Open bites of more than 4mm

During your NHS assessment, your specialist orthodontist will evaluate your smile using a rating system known as the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN). It’s a fair and objective way to determine who qualifies for funding.

If you don’t qualify for NHS braces or you want to get started straight away, private orthodontic treatment is available to everyone. You don’t need a referral from your dentist, and you can choose from a wide range of braces, including Invisalign.

My son had his braces on for almost 2 years – he had them taken off yesterday and wow! What a smile. He (and we) are delighted with his new teeth. The team at Splash are marvellous – skilled, efficient, friendly and great with teenagers. I highly recommend them.
